6 Weeks and growing

So my sweet Maggie Jane will turn 6 weeks old tomorrow. How insane is that! Time truly flies. It's one of those things my mind can't wrap around..this time thing. It will be one of my questions for God. How does time work? Why does it seem to go so fast but slow at the same time? I'll find out one day. But for now, I will continue to enjoy each moment of this little girls' life. She is amazing and beautiful..oh how we love her!

What was I thinking???

So being the nice mom (aka lost my mind nutsy mom) that i am, I decided to have a birthday party for my adorable daughter that turned 7 yesterday. Wow was that a special idea. I had great intentions...her invitations were plastic bowling pins with a cute ribbon and invite tied on...I made cupcakes, and got balloons. It was gonna be great and so much easier than having it at my home. HAHAHAHAHA!

Good thing I enlisted the help of my mom and mom-in-law. My mom got the fun part..she watched Maggie while Connie and I corralled all nine girls, plus Connor and his friend, plus Sophie and her cousin Mason. Here is what you would have heard, had you been there-

"I want to go first" "No I do" "Can I have the pink ball" "I want the yellow one" "Are we gonna eat dinner? cuz I'm hungry" "Can I have quarter?" "Are we done?" "Do you have any gum?" "Can I have a quarter?" "How come Brynne has a toy?" "Can I push this button?" "Can I have a quarter?" "When can we eat?" "Let's open presents"

This was constant and in between all of this, Connie and I were yelling across the bowling alley trying to find the girls to tell them it was their turn. It was one of those events that when it was all over, you are sweating and seriously wondering why you thought it would be easier to do a party at the bowling alley.

In theory parties are a great idea...kids have fun, get to play with friends, get presents, and eat lots of junk with sugar.

In reality all those things are true but you have to add..lots of stress for mom. And although it was a lot of stress and craziness for about an hour a a half, Ellie had a great time with her friends. I do think we will make parties an every other year occurrence though!

A couple of Boo-Bees

So I had forgotten how ginormous your boobies get while nursing. Who needs a boob job...just have a kid and nurse. Although after your 4th kid, they tend to be a little on the droopy side and by little I mean A LOT!! Because if you ever saw me without a bra, you would be scared...really scared. The ladies are seriously out of control..and I forgot that it totally burns slash stings when your milk lets down every time..at least for the first little while. OUCH! So for now I have leaky, big, ugly (and all you nursers out there know why i say ugly) boobs. Just how big does your areola and nipple have to be?? I must really love this kid. The things I put my body through! The sad part is the shriveled up prunes they become when the nursing is all done. That's when you need a booby job. And I'm not totally opposed to the whole idea. But for now they are giant enough. So there you have all the nursing and boob honesty..and would you expect anything less from me? And this post is for girls only unless you want your honey to be so grossed out.

One Week Old...

It's hard to believe that a week has gone by since we had sweet Maggie...As you can see, she's adorable :) and she is such a good baby. We love her so much and although one more has added more chaos to our home, we are loving it. (most of the time)

Below are a couple of pictures that made me realize how big Sophie is. She is definitely not my little baby anymore. Coming home from the hospital with 8lb. Maggie, made me realize just how big she is. So Sad! But she is a huge help and loves giving her sister kisses. Now if we could just get that girl potty-trained...holy cow are her diapers big!

Funny comment...the other day Maggie was crying and Sophie said to me, "Is her crying cause she is "firsty" fur yer boo-boos?" You gotta love that two year old! She is hysterical.

Where Angels Fall...

An angel came to our home yesterday...her name is

maggie jane

Welcoming one of God's choicest spirits into our home is absolutely the most amazing experience. You forget what a true miracle life is. I imagine that moments before she came to us, she was talking to her Heavenly Father who was comforting her and encouraging her as she was about to begin this scary and unknown part of her life. Telling her that she was so blessed to be coming to a home where she would be loved and so wanted. And that he hoped more than anything to see her again someday. The veil is thin as these amazing spirits enter this world. I have no doubt of that.
Maggie surprised us on the eve I was supposed to be induced. I laid in bed thinking of what she would look like, how cute and perfect her nose would be, how much our lives would change, when I felt a rush of warm water. I've never had my water break...and all I could do was try to hold it in (yea impossible) and get off my new bed. We rushed to the hospital at about 11:45 and she was born at 3:05. Not too bad. Everything went perfect. She weighed in at 8lbs even and stretched 21 inches. My biggest girl yet. She was wide eyed and gorgeous. Nate and I are in love again with another daughter.
What an amazing blessing.

Life and my Bathtub

Do you know what I hate about life??? The little inconveniences that happen that serve no purpose and that cost money and time. What am I talking about you ask? Well let me fill you in. Yesterday I was getting into the shower when my almost empty, plastic bottle of body wash fell into the tub and put a hole in it. HELLO!! How does that happen? We drop the kids bath toys that are hard as rocks in there all the time and nothing happens..but no a plastic bottle is the culprit. So I call the Plumbing place here and they refer me to a guy who comes down occasionally from SLC to fix these problems. I have called him for 2 days, left messages..even told him I was having a baby next week (I was hoping for a fast, sympathy call) and NADA. Nothing! Things like this just irritate me. It's because I'm gonna have a baby. I want things all in order and ready. I don't have the time or money for things like this. Oooooh I am so irritated. And lately all i do is cry. I cry because he won't return my phone calls, I cried because my mom offered to wash my swing and bassinet and then she offered to take me to get my hair done. I cried because Nate said he would get the kids to school this morning but he was snoozen away. At this point I will cry over pretty much anything. So I guess I am supposed to learn patience in these situations but I'm sick of it. I don't want any patience right now. I just want my tub fixed before I have this kid!

Pumpkin City

Our haul...pretty good eh?
Nate and Ellie with more gourds

Connor collecting gourds...gotta have some for my porch decor!

These two are only weeks apart and are the best of friends

Sophie and her sidekick MaceDog!

Pumpkin picking at this huge farm has become a tradition for our family. So for Home Night last week, we headed over to this great place. They take you out on their tractor into the patch and then you get to choose from thousands of pumpkins. We had a great time even if it was cold. And if I would have been smart, I would have had Nate gone an hour before us. He is such a perfectionist...looking for the perfect pumpkin to carve. It took him forever. But I'm sure his pumpkin will be the best. It always is.

Wedding Numero Dos

These are a few pics of my brother Robbies wedding. He was married Sept. 12th. He finally found someone who will put up with him. :) Hailee is amazing and we are excited to have her join this crazy fam! The wedding was beautiful. Congrats you two!

Connor and Ellie found the good stuff and filled their bags with treats all night long.

They had these enormous cupcakes that Sophie had to have. Of course she ate just the frosting.

Oh Where, Oh Where have my ankles gone...

Oh where, Oh where can they be???? So as amazing and miraculous as pregnancy is, I've decided it's just not that glorious. Those pregnant models you see in magazines for maternity clothes. They don't exist. It's all a scam to make us pregnant women feel even worse about life. With 3 weeks left, I have no ankles and can only stuff my feet into flip-flops. Seriously. Ellie asked me on Sunday why I got to wear flip-flops to church. I really am at my wits end about it all. Heavenly Father was so smart when he figured out all this prego stuff. He knew he would have to make us forget all about how hard and miserable the last few weeks are. Otherwise, His world would be sparsely populated. But no.... He was smart and we women forget and keep having kids. Will we ever learn? So the countdown is on. I am scheduled for an induction on the 21st. Why an induction you ask...here is a brief history on my labors-

Connor- pushed for 2 hours..his ginormous head paved the way for his sisters

Ellie- pushed twice..the doctor ran in the room just in time to catch her

Sophie- no pushes..she delivered herself. I am not kidding. Ask Nate who almost passed out when they pulled back the sheets and her head was already out, followed immediately by the rest of her body.

So my Dr. said he would actually like to deliver this one and he is scheduled to be on ER call so he'll be at the hospital. He's worried that if my water broke I wouldn't make it to the hospital.

I know I am lucky and the nurses all tell me I am built to have at least a dozen kids but I'll just leave that up to the Dugger family on TLC. She's crazy if you ask me.

So 21 more days. I can do that. At least I am telling myself I can. Kankles and all!

Up to our "Ears"

Bags of "gold" as deemed by Nate who shucked all 95 ears...bless his little heart
What perfect corn shucking form..just ignore the 8 month prego belly in the way

I don't profess to be a canning guru but one thing I do love is my Grandpa's corn..which isn't exactly his corn since he died years ago. But the truth of the matter is, is that it has and still is grown in his garden. So I still call it Grandpa's corn. Now it is grown by my dad and uncle. Oh occasionally (and I mean like once or twice) I take a water turn but mostly I just reap the amazing benefits. Now let me be clear people. This is unlike any other corn you have had. It is special and it is soooo good. We order the seed from somewhere back East and I know it's fairly expensive. But boy is it worth it. So back to my canning abilities. Not that you can corn, but we freeze it so we can enjoy the deliciousness all winter. So Nate and I decided to be ambitious and here you can see the result. After picking, shucking, cleaning, boiling, and taking the kernels off the cob (I don't know if there is a name for that) of 95 ears of corn, we ended up with 36 luscious bags of "gold" that will be thoroughly enjoyed.

Full Circle Moment

So for those of you from around here, you'll appreciate this more than others. Today is the day my oldest child will go to Gooseberry. Is that nuts or what! He was singing some of the songs they are learning.."I don't want no more of gooseberry...gee mom I wanna go but they won't let me go..gee mom I wanna go home." Wow that took me back. I remember Annie Bangs and being terrified of her. I asked Connor if he knew about her. He said, " mom she's not real" How does he know that. I was a total believer. So I convinced Nate he needed to go since this would most likely be his only boy..and I'll get three chances to go with my girls, plus sleeping on a floor this prego sounds like torture. So he didn't have to work today and gets to spend some quality time with his son. I'm sure they will have fun only i won't have any pics to prove it. Nate is not about to sit and snap photos of all the fun. Such a man thing. So here's to Gooseberry, memories and a full circle moment. I am getting old!

Pet Peeves

So I have nothing of importance to blog about except that I am either peeing my pants little by little all day or I have leak in my amniotic fluid...I am hoping it's the first one. I have an appt. on Monday..I figure I'll be ok til then. So anywho I decided to blog about a few of my pet peeves...here they are

1. Fruity Pebbles..my kids love them but I hate that if you don't immediately rinse the bowl they stick like tar to a road..seriously you have to get out a chisel for those gross things.

2. Bathroom Butt Germ Protectors...another thing I really love but lets be honest...but isn't it so annoying that by the time you get the middle part punched out and on the toilet..you have to turn around, pull your pants down and sit before it gets pulled down into the toilet. And it makes you so mad that you are one inch from the seat and in it goes. So now you gotta stand up and repeat the whole process. There has to be a better way????

3. Big Platform Sandals Worn With Pants By Women My Age or Older....first off if you are in, on or around my age, those types of shoes are just not for you. I sorry if any of you reading this are this type of shoe wearer...(I am talking those hemp 4-5 inch platforms) but you should be thanking me. It's just bad news..and what makes it worse, is if you are wearing them with pants, causing the pants to become floods. BAD! It just looks terrible. Do they really get dressed, put on the shoes, look in the mirror and think..wow I look good. Let the shoes go and give them back to the high schoolers where they belong.

4. Cleaning Up Dog Poop That Does Not Belong to Me....I have no dog, cat or any other animal. If I wanted to spend my time cleaning up poop, I would get a dog. I can't tell you how irritated I get when I am mowing the lawn and see the poop. Ooooooh I get so mad. Cause i have to stop the mower, go get a shovel, pick it up and throw it away. It's hard enough mowing the lawn 8 months pregnant...I don't need it to be harder. I totally need a fence or a pellet gun. Obviously I'm not an avid pet lover.

I guess those are the top 4 for today anyway...have a good one

I Must Confess...

So yesterday, thinking I would be a good mom and have a snack for my kids for after school, I made rice krispie treats and sprinkled chocolate chips on the top. Sounds good right? Well apparently my kids are from another planet and don't really like them anymore. I mean aren't Rice Krispies a staple of every kids' life? Which leads me to my confession.......tonight there is only a half pan left....and I wonder why my butt is getting so dang big!

Pick Your Battles

So here we are on day I think 8 (at least) and Sophie is wearing yet again her "princess swimsuit" A gift from Grandma Christensen has never been put to such good use. I'm not sure what happened but she now thinks she needs to wear it everyday. And I have decided this is not a battle to be fought. The fit throwing and loud crying are not worth it. So here she is as cute as can be...wearing a swimsuit...you will see me with her at the grocery store, picking the kids up from school, anywhere around town..all in her pink glory (i did draw the line at going to church). At least it's something cute! Hopefully this phase will pass before it gets too cold. Guess we'll see.

10 weeks to go..

So I am now officially 30 weeks prego and have 10 more to go. The time has really gone by pretty fast for me...I credit that to having three kids to run after, cleaning, laundry and I am now the Primary President. So I don't get much time time to remember that I am having another baby. And I feel lucky..I am a pretty good pregnant girl..no heartburn, no throwing up, no weird cravings (unless you count ice), so I feel really good. There are even times I forget I'm having a baby..that is until I try to bend over, clip my toenails, or shave my "bikini" area ( I can't even see it now..I'll have to get Nate to help me out there). Those are the reminders that there is a little girl growing and stretching my belly. I know the most uncomfortable part is to come. Oh well I am excited to welcome this new little spirit into our home. Now if Nate and I could only agree on a name????

More Wedding pics

So here are a few more belated wedding pics...I have been in one heck of a mess here at my house re-arranging (details to come) so I have had no time or Internet. One thing at a time so the details of my "nesting" will come later. The wedding was beautiful and Nate even admitted to me that he'd marry me again...pretty good to hear that as a hormonal, overweight pregnant lady! I love weddings and brother number 2 is coming up in a few weeks.

Uncle Rob and Sophie..everyone wants a picture with this cute girl
Clay and Lauren and their beautiful cake...although they were to kind to each other with the cake

Hailee and Sophie ..my soon to be sis-in-law

This was the reception at my parents house...it turned out great. Dad and Mom, all of your hard work paid off.

Don't they look adorable. Sophie is impossible to catch a pic of smiles..Ellie on the other hand has turned into quite the cheeser.

Landon and Sophie

So after 10 years, my family finally had another wedding. My brother Clay married Lauren Leavitt from Cedar who we love. She is a little small for our family but we'll keep her. It was a busy couple of days but perfect. Congrats to the couple..I'll post more pics later...my girls looked adorable in their dresses.

Amidst the Craziness...

So my life right now is I would say just slightly crazy and i mean that with the up most sarcasm...it's just seems like there has been one thing after another. My brother gets married tomorrow, my brother-in-law just gave us some sad news, UPS is stressing me out and Nate's not working much again, I got a new calling in church..kind of a biggie..can't tell you yet, I am prego and starting to "nest"..need to move the kids and switch bedrooms, want to deep clean my entire house....and yet amid all this I am moved and touched by how our Heavenly Father has blessed me. I have so many blessing to be grateful for and it's all because of the gospel. How blessed I am to know of the surety of eternal families. As crazy as this wedding planning has been, my brother is starting his own eternal family and i get to witness that. As for my brother-in-law, I think we just have to have faith and know that everything will work out somehow, even if we don't see how it will. My new calling in church has humbled me and scared me. How can I do it with a new baby? Again with faith. And as for my house and this baby, things will slow down sometime and I am so excited for this new little addition we have coming. Sometimes..well a lot of the time, I let life get so crazy that I take everything for granted...especially the most important things like my amazing kids and hubby. What more do I even need than them and forever? So I am going to try and be better at taking a deep breath and taking things one at a time with faith and more faith.

Lake Powell 2009- Lots of pics

We just spent a great week at lake Powell and had so much fun. Here is just some of what went down....
Rob and Connor surfing

An amazing accomplishment for my child who barely dared go down the slide. Connor got up on a wakeboard this year. I was so impressed that he would even try. He did awesome!

This was Sophies favorite game. Jumping off the back of the houseboat. She would do it for hours!

Crazy Rob

Now this is monumental...This was the first year that connor (now 9 years old) went down the slide with no bribery and of his own free will. I was shocked. Glad he has finally warmed up to the slide after all these Powell trips.

My dorky brothers..heading down the slide

Robbie's homemade slip 'n' slide...a little bumpy but a good idea. This is Hailee and Lauren my soon to be sister-in-laws

Cousin Tyler, Clay and Rob...show-offs!

My dad sporting his first "cut-off" that Robbie gave him for Fathers Day

A good game of horseshoes..I'm pretty sure my brothers lost

Nate got to come for a minute and took Sophie down the slide...these two could live in the water.

Sophie loved finding "sheshells" and is proudly showing hers off

This is what happens when you have Robbie as an Uncle. Two years old is not too young to learn to surf...

Or too young to wakeboard..Sophie was crying because she wanted to go by herself. We finally
got her her own handle and that seemed to do the trick. This girl has no fear of water and wanted to go again...and again...and again....if you know my other kids, (pansies:) this is unheard of.

Eyelash Curler Mishap

Monday morning as I was getting ready for the day, I was curling my eyelashes (yes I have to curl mine..was not blessed with ones that do) and as I was gripping the curler, I sneezed..hard! Needless to say, my right eye is almost eyelash free. I looked down at the curler in my hand, and there they all were...on the curler and not on my eyelid. I panicked...my first thought was "Really? This had to happen now...the fourth of July is this weekend..I'm chubby and prego and now I have no eyelashes on one eye?" Seriously! I know that's very vain and all, but you all know how important the 4th is and how everyone wants to look cute cause you see everyone. Well I will be much less cute this year and with minimal eyelashes. My second thought was "Do eyelashes grow back?" Does anyone know the answer to this? All in all, it's not too terrible (at least I am telling myself that) and I have added extra eyeliner but I am not throwing the idea of falsies out...so we'll see. The eyelash curler people should add this warning to their curlers "Beware!!! Do not curl and sneeze at the same time as most likely it will rip your eyelashes out and make you look funny and make your eye feel naked"
