You know how in life you finally get a glimpse of the good life..just a glimpse..like things are smooth sailing..everything is ticking and in working order? Ya I know..it comes like I said in glimpses..very few and far between glimpses. And as soon as that glimpse is gone, things start falling apart. Like the dryer stops working and finally dies after a good solid 13 years...and hey I can't complain..it lived a good life..but I just wasn't ready to drop $1400 on a new washer and dryer..but alas I swallowed the pill and am now the proud owner of some spendy clothes cleaners..hopefully they will last at least another 13 years.
And while the dryer decides to die, mother nature decides to let all hell break loose..and we get the rain storm of the century..so of course a room in the basement floods. And about $150 later, we have a newly painted room, painted furniture (so because we had to pull up the carpet, I decided this would be a perfect time to repaint everything..what the crap was I thinking) and the carpet is dry and back in place. The upside is that now Connor has a room that is now looking put together..pictures to come
It's also a special moment when you realize that 12 years ago when I decided to become a mother..I never thought I would be cleaning up a smattering of poop of the concrete floor of our furnace room. Jealous right? I was getting ready for the day..when Nate popped his head in and asked if Maggie had pooped on the floor in the basement..WHAT? I assured him that the answer was no..so we concluded that it was either the 9 or 12 year old...probably a sleep walking episode..which leads me to suspect Connor who has issues with that but we found no evidence of poopy underwear or anything..I'm sure I would be a lousy detective. He and Ellie of course claim their innocence. One of the most nasty things I have done to date!
Speaking of poop..see this little sleeping beauty? Well she finally crashed one afternoon on the couch. and as I was fixing dinner and cleaning up, I kept getting a whiff of something crass on the smell-o-meter. Finally figured out that she had pooped her pants and then passed out. And yes she is wearing underwear..Double awesome!
And this picture right here is a glimpse of Maggers on her first day of dance..she couldn't have been more giddy. She loved it and her favorite part is getting to wear her "bull-ehs" which translates to her ballets!
This is a stack of my fat clothes...clothes that I can no longer wear because they are too big! What's that you say..clothes can be too big? I know right? Such a weird concept for me..since I have been up and down with my weight for the past 12 years as I have had all these kiddos of mine. But I am officially down 12 lbs and am getting a glimpse of size small, mediums, 8's and maybe just maybe a pair or two of skinny jeans! We will see how brave I dare to be. I have to say that this is a glimpse I am loving. Just a few more lbs to go y'all!
And although life is filled with rainstorms and poop and dying appliances, it never lasts and you get a glimpse of the good..no..the great life! Like the moments where I just watch my family play with each other in my own little yard/oasis and I get to take it all in. Like moments of this little baby of mine...who is walking and growing and I can't believe she will be one in a week. She makes me SMILE. EVERY. DAY...
(and I know she is bald..she lives with me remember? We don't do hair at our house til about 18-24 months..and I am not complaining..I have enough heads of hair to worry about as it is. But whenever I go out, without fail, someone makes a comment about it...I get it people..no hair..she is a baby after all..sheesh:)
